Woodchuck Winter Chill Snickerdoodles!

The sleigh bells are ringing, the Christmas lights twinkling, and the snow flurries are starting to fall. It’s time to warm up by the fire, with a hot mug of cocoa (or cider!), and turn on those holiday flicks. There’s only one thing missing . . . a plate full of holiday cookies! Fresh out of the oven, there’s nothing like biting into a warm and chewy treat. Your kitchen counter may already have a plate or two, but we have one more to tempt that palate.

The Woodchuck Winter Chill Snickerdoodle

Recipe yields 10-12 cookies (depending on how big you make them!)


  • 1 1/4 cup of Woodchuck® Limited Release Winter Cider
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup of shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 tsp. of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp. of baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tbsp. cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp. sugar


Preheat the oven to 350° F.

Pour the Woodchuck Winter cider into a saucepan, and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Cook down until the cider is syrupy. This process should take about 10 minutes. Once the cider has boiled down to about several tablespoons, set aside and bring to room temperature.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, sugar, butter, and shortening until fluffy. Once the cider is ready, add the boiled cider and egg to the mixture, and continue to whisk.

In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the whisked mixture and continue to stir until it forms a fluffy dough.

In a small bowl, sift together the 3 tbsp. of sugar, and the 1/2 tbsp. of cinnamon. Take the dough, and roll into balls about 1 ½ inches thick. Take the dough balls, and roll them in the sugar/cinnamon mixture until the exterior of the dough is coated. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

Bake the cookies for about 12 minutes, or until light golden brown. When the cookies have finished baking, they will still appear dough-like towards the center, but will firm as they cool! Take the cookies out of the oven, and let cool.

Pour your glass of milk, heat up that hot cocoa (or again… hot cider!), take a seat beside the fire and get ready to dunk!
