Earth Week 2014!
April 16, 2014
We here at Woodchuck® take great pride in crafting the highest quality cider in the land. One of the key parts of that last sentence is “the land”. Without a healthy earth, apples won’t grow, and without apples there is no Woodchuck.
We have worked hard to keep an eye on the environment as we have grown over the last 23 years. We were one of the first to change our packaging to recycled material. We also continue to work on bringing more renewable energy into our power portfolio. We’ll talk more about this as the week goes on, but first we want to let you know about our Woodchuck Earth Week 2014!
For the fifth year in a row, we here at Woodchuck will plant a tree and donate a dollar for every Facebook ‘like’ or e-newsletter sign up we get between today, April 16th and Tuesday April 22nd, 2014 or as you may know that day: Earth Day. You can even do both for added impact!
American Forests® Global ReLeaf program will help us plant the trees as they have for the last five years. In that time we have planted over 42,000 trees in areas affected by forest fire or other natural disasters. This year we have committed to plant trees in the Okanogan‐Wenatchee National Forest of Washington State, which was devastated by wildfire in 2012. Woodchuck Granny Smith is made with Washington apples, so we figured it was time to do something for the state that helps us craft such a delicious varietal cider.
The Vermont Tree Fruit Growers Association works with our local orchards to help them grow and remain viable businesses in the state. We work with five local orchards here in the Green Mountains and have a great interest in seeing our local farmers grow their bottom line. The dollar donated per ‘like’ and e-newsletter will go towards research to help grow more apples for cider and marketing efforts by apple growers to get more people out to the orchard during the fall.
These are both great causes and we hope you will join us by getting your friends, family, and anybody else you know to like us on Facebook and sign up for our e-newsletter. In addition to the donation, you will always be up to date on the happenings here are Woodchuck!
Share this link with your friends and let’s work together to make the world a better place.
Happy Earth Week from us at Woodchuck Hard Cider!
