header4You might call it audacity, or you might call it courage. Here at the Woodchuck® cidery, we call it Gumption. Twenty-four years ago, we had the Gumption to ignite the comeback of the American craft cider industry. We’ve had the Gumption to push the limits of innovation and infuse the CRAZIEST AND MOST AWESOME things into our ciders. (Chocolate? Mint? Hops? Oh, they’re just a few!) We continue to have the Gumption to go above and beyond for our devoted fans, and combine our own passion with that of theirs.

P.T. Barnum once noted, “everybody drank cider-spirits called ‘gumption’.” Well, as we celebrate the spirit of a legendary showman, let us clear our throats, raise the curtains, and bring attention to our greatest and boldest announcement yet…

New Ciders in the 802 on 8/02

local-Nectar802 is Vermont’s only area code. There are only 12 other states that can boast having a single area code. In some ways it has become a rallying call, (pun definitely intended), for Vermonters to unite around. In recent years, ‘802’ has evolved into an informal logo and point of pride among residents and frequent visitors alike. 

August 2nd is 8/02. Only seems right that on 8/02… in the 802… we release a few special batch ciders that will only be available in Vermont. Continue reading

Apple Blossom Season

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA We had ourselves a winter up here in VT. There was the usual mixed bag of rain, sleet, ice, and snow. We even had a few blockbuster snowstorms. Yet what really got us was the cold. Bitter cold. Cold that grabs your face, makes your eyes water, and then freezes those tears before you can even get to your car in the morning. #polarvortex.

Yet all of us here at Woodchuck continue to live through these Vermont winters year after year. The spring season may just be the reason why. It’s a glorious time of year. We had to wait a little longer than usual this year but the leaves are back, tulips are popping from the ground, and winter coats are headed to storage closets. Some say the sweet isn’t quite as sweet without the sour. Working through winter frost bite to get to spring rejuvenation may just be how that particular idiom came to be.

Same Cider, Whole New Look

We have long worked to craft great cider.  Since 1991 in fact.  The liquid inside the bottle has always been of the upmost importance; fancy marketing campaigns and flashy gimmicks just aren’t our style.  You could say we just don’t give a ‘chuck about all that big brand mass-market noise.

We here in the Green Mountains of Vermont DO Give a ‘Chuck™ about authenticity.  We Give a ‘Chuck about handcrafted cider made in a real cidery, not in a mass-market brewery.  We Give a ‘Chuck about our local community and farmers, about our fanatical Woodchuck® fans, and about making sure every bottle that leaves our cidery is of the highest possible quality.
