Breast Cancer Awareness Month: RECAP

November 10, 2014
Breast Cancer Awareness pour

We’ve reached the end of October, and this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here at Woodchuck®, we tried not to just think pink, but we spent the month pouring Pink in hopes to bring attention to the cause and the organizations that support it. Across the 50 states, we teamed up with bars and restaurants to bring our Private Reserve Pink back on draft, a special style that was developed to support the local organization Dragonheart Vermont that helps cancer survivors after treatment. The style sits close to our hearts, as one of Woodchuck’s former cider makers created the style to support his wife; a founding member of Dragonheart Vermont, and a 10 year breast cancer survivor.

We’re excited to give you a peek at what went on this month in the restaurants and bars we partnered with on this cause. Check it out!

In Maine, our regional cider rep worked with an restaurant to help raise money with a Breast Cancer Awareness Giving Tree. With every purchase of a Pink pint, patrons were asked if they would donate an additional $1.00 to be contributed to a local organization, and get a pink apple up on the donation tree. With 6 kegs of Pink, and a pint glass giveaway, the event was a huge success.

aroogasAt the 8 Arooga’s Grille & Sports Bars in Harrisburg and York, PA, our rock star local reps and distributors set up a month long campaign – October “Feel Your Boobies Foundation” Promotion. For every Woodchuck Pink pint served all month, the restaurants donated $1.00 to the foundation. On 10/24, they gave away Woodchuck Pink glasses with Feel your Boobies volunteers at each location available to raise awareness for the cause. Quite an incredible campaign!

In Woodland, CA, Woodchuck helped drum up local awareness by teaming up with an account to serve Woodchuck Pink on a Charity Pub Crawl. After the 1st purchase, each patron was able to keep their Pink pint, with a set price for refills. Not only was it for a good cause, but it looks like it was quite a fun time!

At another location in Maine, Woodchuck sponsored a month long fundraiser honoring a local girl that lost her life to cancer last year. With the purchase of a Pink pint glass, patrons helped make a donation to the Dempsey Center in Lewiston in honor of the young girl. With a pink apple for each donation placed around the bar, the restaurant made a great contribution to the center, helping bring light to what the month is all about.

In Texas, Woodchuck partnered with “Cocktails for a Cure 2014” and had Pink poured to help raise money for the Greater Dallas Arya Samaj (GDAS) Cancer Clinic. With a closing party on November 7th, Pink signature cocktails were sold for a $1, and all the money was donated to the organization.

As we continue to craft this very special style, we are overwhelmed by the support from our fans that we can pass forward to the cause. The Woodchuck Private Reserve Pink will be available again between March and July, so keep an eye out as the season approaches!
