Woodchuck Cider’s Earth Week 2014 Recap

Another year, another Earth Week, and another great donation, because of YOU! With 5,249 new Facebook fans and Woodchuck Community Newsletter sign-ups, we will be planting 5,249 trees though American Forests Global ReLeaf Program, and donating $5,249 to the Vermont Tree Fruit Grower’s Association. We think that deserves a loud and emphatic, WAHOO! Thank you to all of our fans for helping us out!

A Bumper Crop from the Solar Orchard

In March of 2013 a solar array went online in Bridport, Vermont, just a few miles from our cidery.  The project was the work of a local farmer looking to diversify his land, AllEarth Renewables, a solar company, and us here at Woodchuck® Hard Cider.  You can read more from our first blog post about it here.

We were excited to be expanding our renewable energy portfolio beyond our Cow Power commitment.  We were hoping the newly dubbed “solar orchard” would produce enough power to account for 10% of our usage.  Well I guess you could say sunny days were ahead!

Ready for your weekend Woodchuck®? Who isn’t! As you reach that last sip of cider, you’re inevitably left with an empty 6-pack. What now? Hopefully that initial response is to throw those bottles and packaging right into the recycling bin. Is that your only option? With Earth Week upon us, we looked to our fans for some inspiration. What did we find? A whole lot of Upcycling!

Upcycling is the process of repurposing your waste into new products or useful materials. By taking a different look at your refuse, you can upcycle and old tire into a flower bed, or a broken ladder into a bookshelf! What could you do with your empty cider bottles?
